Thinking about the poem:

Q.1 How does the cuckoo's voice charm the poet? -

Ans: The Cuckoo's voice fills the poet's heart with happiness and joy. It gives the poet pleasure, happy and peace of mind,

Q.2 Why does the poet call cuckoo 'wandering voice' darling of the spring'?

Ans: The poet calls the Cuckoo wanderings because it keeps moving from place to place while singing. The poet calls the cuckoo the darling of the spring because its songs are heard only in the spring session.

Q.3 Which childhood experiences does the poet describe in stanzas five and six?

Ans: It stanza 5 and 6, the songs of the cuckoo brings to the poet the memories of his boyhood days when he used to look for the cuckoo in bushes, in trees and in the sky but never saw it anywhere.

Q.4 What does 'golden time' refer to?

Ans: The golden time referred by the poet is the time of the poet's boyhood when he was a schoolboy. At this time the poet used to hear the songs of Cuckoo and tried to find it.

Ans: The cuckoo has been personified in the poem. It has been personified with a human voice and human movements.

2. What is the rhyme scheme of the poem?

Ans: The poem is divided into quatrains. Each quatrain has the rhyme line and the second line with the fourth line.


3. What imagery does Words- worth use to potray the Beauty of nature in the poem?


Ans: William Wordsworth has used the imagery of pictorial pictures, visual pictures and audio pictures to portray the beauty of nature.

Central idea of the poem: 


The poem, "To the cuckoo" composed by
William Wordsworth is about the poet's love of nature. It shows the poets love for nature in the form of Cuckoo. One can achieve all the joys from the nature, as the nature is full of joys everywhere. On hearing the song of the cuckoo, the poet forgets all the sorrows and sufferings of the material world and feels full of emotion and joy.

Summary of the poem: 


The poem, "To the Cuckoo" compose by 
William Wordsworth is about the sweet voice of the cuckoo. The poet hears the sweet voice of the new coming cuckoo and fills with joy. He calls it a happy newcomer bird and a wandering voice. The poet hears its voice while sitting on the grass, sometimes form far off and some times form very near. The cuckoo is singing songs of sunshine and of the flowers and the pot call it the darling of spring. The cuckoo is an invisible mysterious voice fort the poet. Its song brings
the poet the memories of his boyhood days when he used to look for cuckoo in  bushes, in trees and in the sky but never saw it. He could only hear it voice. The poet calls it the darling of the spring and a blessed bird. It transforms this earth into fairyland
