Q.1 What is polyethene and who discovered it?

Ans:- German chemist Hans Vaughn Pachmann  discovered polyethene, a strong, lightweight, flexible synthetic material that is produced at a low cost by polymerizing ethylene. It is used for plastic bags, food containers, and other packaging materials.


Q.2 What does Rakesh's father expect from the kids?

Ans:-He hopes that children will no longer use polythene bags, something that we older people have so far been unable to accomplish.


Q.3 Why is polythene widely used?

Ans:- Polythene bags are cheap and lightweight, which makes them a popular choice for packing bags.

 


What is biodegradation?

Ans:- It is a natural process that turns organic matter from complex to simple forms.

 

 


Q.4 What are the harmful effects of polythene?

Ans:- Polythene has many harmful effects it is the cause of diseases like malaria ,cholera etc it also increases the infertility of soil besides it plays a major role in blockage of water systems like sewage and water pipes causing floods during moderate or heavy rainfall. 


Q.5 How is the soil affected by polythene?

Ans:- After remaining in the soil it damages the ecosystem of the soil by retarding its carrying capacity beside polyethylene has the property of non permeability it cuts off respiration of the soil system which in turn not only affects the plant life but also other creatures living in the soil .


Q.6 How does polythene affect animals?

Ans:- Stray animals frequently eat the polythene bags you see on the roads, which can be fatal for them.



Q.7 What is SRO 182 ?

Ans:-The use of polythene is prohibited inside the territory of Jammu and Kashmir as per the law passed by the government under, SRO 182 dated June 18, 2008.


Q.8 How can we save our posterity from the harmful effect of polyethylene?

 Ans:- It is the responsibility of we people to completely avoid the use of polythene so that we can save ourselves and our posterity from the harmful effects of polyethylene.
