Ans. It is the boy Hamlin the writer of the lesson, who has been referred as 'I' in the lesson.
Q.2. Why was mother's face white and frightened and what did she ask Hamlin to do?
Ans. The mother's face was white and frightened because Hamlin's father was in deep pain. The mother asked Hamlin to go for the doctor to other near by village.
Q. 3. What did Hamlin do to get the doctor?
Ans. He saddled his mare Kittie and rode fast to the other village where the doctor lived.
Q. 4. How did the doctor come?
Ans. The doctor came in his horse-driven carriage. He drove it himself.
Q. 5. Why did the writer feel content at the end.
Ans. He was content because he had done his duty. He had called the doctor. He was certain that the doctor would heal his father and his mother would have sweet relief.
