THE FRIENDLY MONGOOSE

Q. 1. Why did the farmer bring a baby mongoose into the house?
Ans. The farmer brought a baby mongoose to be their son's companion in future.
Q. 2. Why didn't the farmer's wife want to leave the baby alone with the mongoose ?
Ans. The farmer's wife didn't trust an animal. So she did not want to leave the baby alone with the mongoose.
Q. 3. What was the farmer's comment on his wife's fears ?
Ans. The farmer said that the mongoose was a friendly animal.
Q. 4. Why did the farmer's wife strike the mongoose with her basket ?
Ans. Seeing the blood-smeared mongoose, she thought that he had killed her baby. So she struck the mongoose with her basket.
Q. 5. Did she repent her hasty action? How does she show her repentance ?
Ans. Yes, she repented her hasty action. She touched the dead mongoose and burst into sobbing.

Ans. No, I do not have a pet. If possible, I would like to have a dog as a pet. We do not have a servant in our home. So someone out of us will have to take care of it. My brother and I would take turns in taking care of it. We shall divide the duty of taking care of it between ourselves. I do not like to keep a bird-as a pet in a cage. I shall love my pet bird and I shall leave it free. I shall train it in such a way that it will come to take rest in a cage and fly whenever it likes to do so.
