1- where is the markhor found?

Answer:- The markhor  is found in high  mountains of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan , Uzbekistan and the Pir Panjal range ( POK , Poonch, Rajouri,) of Indian state of Jammu and kashmir. 


2- what does ‘markhor’ mean?

Answer:- The name ‘Markhor’ is the combination of two  Persian words, mar–a snake and khor–eater. Hence, the name Markhor means ‘snake-eater’’


3- what are the dangers that the markhor faces?

Answer:- Markhor face threats of overhunting and poaching ,  also loss of their habitat is a big concern for their decreasing population Human warfare, increasing disturbances and competition from domestic goats and sheep are also threats faced by Markhor..



4- why does the markhor climb cliffs?

Answer:-To enjoys the morning sun and to escape from the predators and sometimes in search of food they climb cliffs



5- what is the status of markhor?

Answer:- Due to their decreasing population they are  listed in the  Red List of IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature) if conservation is not taken seriously the species will extinct in near future... 



6-give a physical description of the markhor?

Answer:–  Markhors measure 132 – 186 centimetres in length, stand 65 – 115 centimetres (26 – 45 inches) high at the shoulder and weigh around 40 – 110 kilograms (88 – 240 pounds). They have a tail length of 8 – 20 centimetres (3.2 – 8 inches).. .
