1ST Poem "PRAYER"

SUMMARY OF THE POEM”
The poem "prayer" is written by G.A. Mehjoor.
In this poem he addresses to God. The poet appeals his lord that being his hope and trust; He should lead him to the way of truth. He appeals him to remove his ignorance and pour the nectar of knowledge on him. He asks him to listen to his pleas and requests and to save him from idleness, sickness and sufferings. He earnestly requests the lord that instead of inspiring him to write sleeps inducing tales he should be blessed with the power of writing those songs which can fill life even in the dead. The poet prays to God to inspire him to do some thing good in this short spun of life. He admits that in his outwards appearance he is a human being but in stuff he is far from being humane, kind hearted or loving So he pray to God that he can not bear any kind of separation from him...
CENTRAL IDEA OF THE POEM
The poem "Prayer" is addressed to God. The poet poet makes wishes to Almighty. He prays to God to lead him to the truth. He wants God to bless him. With the nectar of knowledge. He wants to be free from cheapness, Weakness and idleness The poet firmly believes in God. He wants God to be with him forever. He admits that he can't bear separation from God

Ans:-Poet wants to sing songs that can bring life to the dead, He wants to Sing songs that can stimulate people with love. He wants to sing songs that can end all the hatred and bitterness.

Q5:- 'Subject me not to trials ,shame not my human form? Explain.
Ans:- The poet says that so far he has been man in form only. The real stuff of a man is his humanity. This humanity has been for from the poet's human form. The poet prays to God not to subject him trials which will show his lack of humanity. This his human from will be put to shame.
Q6:- Identify the similes and the metaphors in the poem?
Ans The poet has used the following similes in his poem:
(I) Like dew , how long shall I wait for the first flash of the sun.
(ii.)Awaken me with (like) flowers in the first stroke of the dawn.
Metaphors used in the poem are :
(i) dwell in ignorance .
(ii) nectar of knowledge.
